Vision

Design and technology is an inspiring and practical subject which prepares children to deal with tomorrow’s rapidly changing world. At Ebchester Primary school, we want our pupils to use creativity and imagination to design and make a variety of products across a range of contexts. Stimulating and exciting DT experiences enable them to use and develop their observational skills and instil a curiosity for how things work. Our curriculum encourages the children to become independent, creative problem-solvers who demonstrate resilience in the face of difficulties and an ability to edit and improve their design ideas as they work. During each project, children are given a purpose for their designing from a perceived need in their own environment, which only serves to engage, excite and inspire them further. By the time pupils leave Ebchester, they will have a clear understanding of the need to plan for and evaluate their designs as well as design and technology skills that will ready them for future jobs and wider life.
